He\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003ewas accepted as a Redemptorist lay brother serving his congregation as sacristan, gardener, ostiarius, infirmarian, and\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003etailor. \u003cp\u003eWhen falsely accused by a pregnant woman of being the father of her child, he retreated to silence; she later recanted\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eand cleared him, and thus began his association as patron of all aspects of pregnancy. He was reputed to bilocate and\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eread consciences. His last will consisted of the following small note on the door of his cell: \"Here the will of God is\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003edone, as God wills, and as long as God wills.\" Gerard died on October 16, 1755 at Caposele, Italy of tuberculosis. He\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003ewas aged 29. \u003cp\u003eSt. Gerard Majella Annual Novena takes place every year in St. Josephs Church, Dundalk, Ireland.
